  - Founded in 1950, PTLA’s roots began with monthly meetings. These meetings were attended by trial lawyers whose clients included people injured through the negligent conduct of others. The emphasis was on education. PTLA continues this tradition by hosting monthly Luncheon Lectures featuring prominent trial lawyers who share their knowledge of the law as it directly relates to the plaintiffs’ practices. Approved by the PA Continuing Legal Education Board for credit, these program will help fulfill your annual continuing requirements. PTLA also holds yearly events to encourage networking and foster strong morale among members. Our Annual Meeting, Justice Michael A. Musmanno Award Dinner, Holiday Cocktail Party, and Golf Outing are just a few of the events hosted yearly.

  - The Committee For a Better Tomorrow (CBT), established by PTLA in 1988, is a registered bipartisan political action committee.   - PTLA maintains an active role in protecting the rights of all Philadelphians and citizens of Pennsylvania. Through our partnership with Community Legal Services (CLS), Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent (PhillyVIP), and St. Christopher's Hospital our members not only make financial contributions to these organizations but are stalwart volunteers taking cases and standing up in court for those who need our help the most.

Philadelphia VIP

In 2004, PTLA committed to handle 100 cases per year for Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent (VIP). We are proud to continue this tradition and make a difference in the lives of those citizens in Philadelphia for whom VIP is their last resort. PTLA distributes VIP's lists to our members on a monthly basis and asks everyone to help by volunteering to take at least one case a year. Join us today in supporting VIP.
